The cars from Vancouver Island BC are located in one of the few areas of Canada where salt is not used on winter roads so there is no rust. In Ontario this car would have rusted out years ago! It is a daily driver. The car is fun to drive and basic that is you can still fix it when things go wrong or wear out. There are some new parts like new wiper blades and a good battery and the tires are in good shape. The body is in very good shape with faded paint on the hood and a small dent on the driver's door both could be fixed or your could just drive it as is. I just replaced the water pump and drove the Laser from Victoria BC to North Bay Ontario in four days with absolutely NO problems. The Laser used NO oil on the entire trip of over 4400km. Not a bad test for a 23 year old car!
This is a pretty sturdy car with lots of steel in it compared to more modern cars and it is based on the original K car design which was pretty much bullet proof. This model the Laser was referred to as the "Gentleman's Sports car and also came in a turbo style - this one is the standard 2.5L motor so its good on gas.
We are asking $900 for the car. If you wish to make an offer or trade (truck, snow machine, boats etc) we will of course be happy to consider it. . A picture of this car appears in the book we wrote about our road trip called the Canadian Winter Driver's Handbook You never know how long a used car is going to last but I had checked her over and prepared her for the trip of 4487 km and she made it without any problems. Also the car comes with the original hand book and repair receipts since new which is useful so that you know what has been done. The mileage is low for the year. Note that this is not a show car it's a daily driver in good but not perfect condition that has been reasonably well maintained. With a bit of luck and reasonable care you probably will get a lot more use from her. But remember with all used vehicles you take a bit of a risk and the ideal owner is probably somebody that can do some of the routine maintenance themselves.
